If you have chosen to decline or delay the routine Vitamin K injection, the practical question is usually a simple one: will anyone still perform the circumcision? Our answer is yes. We care for families who have had the injection and families who have declined it, and we won't ask you to justify the decision.

We are not here to reopen that. Whether your baby receives the Vitamin K injection is a matter for you and your pediatrician. What we can tell you is that declining it will not stop us from caring for your family, and that nobody here will ask you to explain yourself at the door.
That is a clinical question, and an honest answer depends on your baby — which is why it belongs in a conversation with Rabbi Levy and your pediatrician rather than on a web page. Any provider who answers it for you in the abstract, in either direction, is guessing.
What we can set out here is how we work:
If anything in your baby's history gives him pause, he will tell you directly. That conversation is part of the consultation, and the consultation is free.
You should hear this from us rather than find it somewhere else and wonder why we left it out. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the Vitamin K injection for every newborn, and many hospitals and pediatric offices require it before they will perform a circumcision.
We don't require it. That is a difference in practice — not a claim that the guidance is wrong, and not advice to decline. Whether your baby receives Vitamin K is a decision for you and your pediatrician, and it is worth talking through with them. We care for families on both sides of it.
