The short answer: at My Home Circumcision, in-home newborn circumcision is $1,850, one flat fee that covers the consultation, the procedure in your home, all supplies, and aftercare support while your baby heals. A $350 deposit reserves your date, and the balance is due one week before the visit. Current pricing is always on our service and pricing page.
What the fee includes
- A consultation before the visit to review your baby's history and answer questions. The first conversation is free and there's no obligation.
- The procedure in your home, with a sterile setup and all supplies brought to you.
- Aftercare: written instructions and direct access to your mohel through your secure portal during healing.
- If you'd like them: blessings and help choosing a Hebrew name. There's no separate charge for a ceremony, and no ceremony is required.
What can add to the cost
- Travel. We're based in the Chicago area. Rabbi Levy travels to Denver and Salt Lake City once a month, and visits there include a travel fee; so do visits elsewhere. We always confirm the exact amount with you before you book.
- 8th-day circumcisions. When our schedule allows a procedure on a specific day, it adds a $250 procedure fee plus travel, and procedure discounts don't apply.
That's the full list. There are no separate facility, consultation or follow-up charges.
Does insurance cover it?
We're private-pay and don't bill insurance directly. A mohel isn't a physician, so there's no provider number to bill under. Many families pay us and then submit a claim to their insurer themselves. On request we provide an itemized receipt with the codes most insurers ask for. Whether you're reimbursed, and how much, depends entirely on your plan. How reimbursement works walks through the steps.
Can we use an HSA or FSA?
Some families do. Eligibility is decided by your plan administrator, not by us, so check with them before you book.
Payment plans and financial help
Payment plans are available on request. We also keep a financial aid fund for families who need help; requests are reviewed confidentially. Just ask when you call.
What if it's not a boy?
If you reserve before your baby is born and it turns out the procedure isn't needed, your payment is refunded in full.
How does this compare with a hospital or pediatrician?
It depends heavily on your insurance. Newborn circumcision done in the hospital or a pediatric office is often billed to insurance, and what a family pays out of pocket ranges from nothing to several hundred dollars or more, depending on the plan, the deductible and, for Medicaid, the state. The honest way to compare is to call your insurer and ask what you would owe for a newborn circumcision in the hospital or office, then weigh that against the in-home fee and what matters to you about the setting. Our article on hospital vs. home circumcision covers the non-cost differences, and our cost overview covers older children and adults.
